Lidl Hungary has unveiled its newest logistics hub in Kiskunfélegyháza, marking the retailer’s most significant warehouse investment in the country. This state-of-the-art facility, which cost approximately 60 billion forints or €162 million, is set to enhance the supply chain for around 70 of Lidl’s stores across Hungary.

Spanning over 83,000 square meters, the logistics center has not only bolstered Lidl’s operational capacity but also the local job market, creating over 400 positions with plans to recruit an additional 50 employees soon. This development underscores Lidl’s commitment to expanding its footprint and operational efficiency within Hungary.

The warehouse features an impressive array of 194 loading docks and a refrigerated section covering 24,000 square meters, ensuring that goods are stored and transported efficiently. In line with Lidl’s sustainability initiatives, the facility includes a 9,000-square-meter rooftop solar installation and an innovative system that repurposes waste heat from refrigeration for underfloor heating.

Adding to its environmental credentials, the logistics center is surrounded by a 10,000-square-meter biodiverse green area, highlighting Lidl’s dedication to eco-friendly practices. The center’s strategic importance is evident as it is set to dispatch approximately 4,500 pallets of goods daily, significantly reinforcing Lidl’s supply network across the nation.

With 220 stores already operational in Hungary, Lidl sources nearly 60% of its stock from local suppliers, boosting the domestic economy. The new logistics facility is a crucial component of Lidl’s strategy to continue its expansion and strengthen its market presence in Hungary, ensuring a more robust and efficient supply chain.
